This award recognizes individuals for their leadership and contribution to the field of e-learning in the Arab world, either over a number of years or for achieving a significant positive change. Individuals must demonstrate that they have made significant contributions and back it up with testimonials and other supporting evidence. Both quantitative and qualitative evidence will be taken into account.

Application Format

Individuals for this award category must be nominated by others. All nominations are to be received between the 1st of March and the 1st of September of each year. The nomination application shall include the following:

• Curriculum Vitae for the applicant/ nominee
• A descriptive essay on why the individual is qualified to receive this award (an overview summarizing the particular contribution and describing the specific context for this contribution and how it impacted the region. This essay shall not exceed five A4 pages (single spaced)
• Evidence of such contributions (i.e. received recognitions and affiliations, evaluation results, articles written, etc)
• Five testimonials from the field supporting the candidates’ qualifications for the award.
• Access to the program(s) or services that the individual has developed or directed.

Evaluation Criteria

This award recognizes outstanding contribution to the field by individuals whose insight and innovation has significantly increased the development and/or credibility of e-learning in the region. The award addresses a body of work, rather than an isolated breakthrough. Once the submission is received the application will be reviewed by an international jury panel that will consider the following criteria in their evaluation:

• Length of time over which contributions have been made
• Significance of research or services undertaken by the individual
• Impact of the contribution to the region
• Services performed that enhance and strengthen the field of e-learning in the region
• Activities that have influenced and enhanced e-learning and teaching

Award Ceremony

The award ceremony will take place during the HBMeU Annual Congress taking place on 30^th January, 2012 Dubai.

Recipients of the award would be notified by December 15^th of each year.
